Worker Threaded Massive Loom in Makassar Factory
by Jill Herring
Soft overcast light fills the vast machine shop near Makassar, illuminating a textile worker engaged with a towering loom. The worker stands amidst the machinery, hands guiding threads through the complex metal framework. Cool season air settles in the space, evidenced by the worker's long sleeves. Dramatic clouds hang low outside the high windows, casting a diffuse glow that reveals the gritty texture of the industrial floor and the worn surfaces of the equipment. The wide panoramic view shows the scale of the operation, showing rows of looms stretching into the distance. Dust motes are not visible, but the air appears thick with the presence of raw materials. at the edge is the sharp contrast between the smooth, white thread and the dark, rusted steel of the machine frame.
