Worker in Luxor at Noon Light
by Landon Blair
Bright winter noon light floods the dusty courtyard of a traditional Luxor house, illuminating a low stone bench where a local worker rests. A dented metal basin, scratched from years of use, sits near his feet, reflecting the harsh sun. Beside it, a simple clay wash basin holds stagnant water, its surface rippling slightly from a distant breeze. The worker, wearing a faded white galabeya, adjusts a patterned cushion that has seen better days, its fabric worn thin at the edges. In the background, the rough limestone walls of the house rise toward a clear blue sky, with a single vine creeping along a cracked parapet.
