Summer evening light spills through the open doorway of a cramped Lima kitchen, illuminating a chaotic work surface where daily life pauses. A ceramic utensil crock overflows with wooden spoons and metal ladles, sitting next to a loaf pan resting on a stack of damp bath towels used to dry dishes. Fine dust lines the baseboard near the worn tile floor, contrasting with pebbles pressed into a muddy patch of the courtyard visible just beyond the threshold.
