Work Stool in Luxor
by Kyle Reilly
Warm late afternoon light slants across a dusty stonework ledge in Luxor, illuminating a cluster of terracotta bowls stacked unevenly near a weathered wooden doorframe. A pair of rusted hinge screws catches the sun, their orange oxidation contrasting sharply with the faded blue paint peeling from the wood. Beside the bowls, a simple work stool sits abandoned, its legs worn smooth by years of use. In the background, the blurred outline of a potted succulent adds a touch of green against the ochre walls. A straw sun hat rests casually on the stool, casting a short, sharp shadow that emphasizes the intensity of the fading day.
