A white enamel cooler jug sits on the rough concrete ledge of a Chicago apartment balcony, catching the bright late morning light. The metal surface reflects the pale blue sky and the blurred grey facade of the neighboring brick building across the street. Condensation beads have formed along the base where the cold interior meets the warm air, dripping slowly onto the dusty sill. One faded red sticker peels away from the side, revealing the dull silver metal beneath the chipped white paint.
