Weathered Doormat in Bilbao

A weathered doormat rests on the rough stone threshold of a traditional Bilbao doorway, its fibers damp from the heavy mist of dawn. The gray fabric is speckled with dark mud and scattered grit, marking the boundary between the dry interior and the wet street outside. Raindrops rest on the coarse weave, catching the faint, diffused light that falls through the thick fog hovering over the cobblestones. A small puddle gathers at the edge of the mat, reflecting the dull sky and the dark frame of the door.
