Total Solar Eclipse Night Sky Washington Overlook

by Stanley Zuniga

A band of diamond-like light arcs across the pitch-black silhouette of the moon, suspended high above a rugged Washington ridge. The sky stretches in an endless dome of deep indigo, speckled with stars that remain visible despite the day's event. Cold moonlight washes over the foreground, turning the silhouetted pines and rocky outcrops into sharp, charcoal shapes against the celestial display. Late spring grasses lie flat and still along the overlook edge, untouched by wind. The horizon glows faintly with a thin, blue twilight band, separating the dark earth from the infinite space above. One bright star twinkles just to the left of the eclipsed sun's corona, anchoring the vast, silent scale of the night.
