A terracotta flowerpot rests on the weathered wooden railing of a Vancouver balcony, catching the first warm rays of the morning sun. The rough, porous surface of the clay contrasts with the smooth, green leaves of a small fern sprouting from the dark soil. Raindrops rest on the fern fronds, reflecting the pale blue sky above the distant city skyline. One droplet hangs from the tip of a leaf, poised to fall onto the wet wood below.
