Bright late-afternoon sun breaks through monsoon clouds to illuminate a retired railroad switchman standing in Lashio. His face bears deep lines etched by years of labor, framed by a weathered cap. The shallow depth of field blurs the bustling street behind him, isolating his weathered dignity against the humid air. Raindrops glisten on the rough fabric of his shirt and the leather of his work gloves. Calluses mark his fingers, a testament to decades of handling heavy switch levers. A faint rainbow arcs through the mist falling across his shoulders, against the dusty red earth of the road. Water beads on the brim of his hat, catching the golden light before dripping onto his shoulder.
