Pale gold light spills across a weathered concrete wall in a Khartoum side street, illuminating the rough texture of dry plaster. A faded mural depicting traditional patterns sits partially obscured by a fresh, chaotic layer of black and red spray paint. The new graffiti slashes diagonally, its wet sheen catching the first rays of the morning sun. Above, dramatic grey clouds hang low against the brightening sky, casting long, soft shadows that stretch across the alley floor. Dust motes hover in the shafts of light, settling on the peeling edges of the older artwork. The wall ends abruptly at the frame's edge, revealing a glimpse of a nearby market stall with a blue tarp. The sharp contrast between the matte old paint and the glossy new tags defines the surface.
