Solar Array Cart Kicks Dust on Maroua Dam Dawn in along a dam spillway near Maroua

Solar Array Cart Kicks Dust on Maroua Dam Dawn

by Eric Langley

First light of dawn paints the horizon in pale gold while a maintenance cart traverses dry gravel along the concrete spillway of a dam near Maroua. The vehicle kicks up a thick cloud of tan dust that mingles with the fine mist of a light monsoon drizzle, creating a hazy veil over the ground. Rows of dark solar panels stretch into the distance, their surfaces reflecting the soft morning glow. Wet patches of gravel glisten under the diffused light, against the dry, dusty trail left by the cart's tires. The concrete barrier curves gently along the right side, guiding toward the vanishing point where the panels meet the sky. One droplet rests on the edge of a metal panel bracket, waiting to fall.
