Under the harsh, mixed glow of a street-side tea stall’s bare bulb and distant sodium vapor, a mechanic wipes grease from a socket wrench with a rag, the tool’s steel catching a sharp, cold reflection. Behind him, the cluttered workbench holds a coiled length of thick hemp rope, its fibers rough against the smooth, chipped enamel of a metal counter. A few mint leaves sit scattered near a chipped ceramic cup, their bright green hue vibrating against the dull gray of the concrete floor.
