Dark shapes of a brass bosun's whistle and coiled lanyard rest against the open pages of a ship's log on a wooden ferry deck. Backlight from the wet season twilight turns the metal and paper into stark silhouettes against a hazy horizon. Low-hanging grey clouds press down over the dark water, while a metal railing runs diagonally across the frame to guide toward the distant shoreline. Faint water stains mark the logbook pages beside the whistle's curved body. The scene ends with the dark curve of the whistle resting directly on the wet, textured paper.
