Thick winter mist rests on the ground inside a West Virginia ranch corral, obscuring the wooden fencing and turning the earth into a pale, damp gray. In the foreground, a heavy plastic bin for livestock tags stands as a dark, solid silhouette. Behind it, the distant horizon glows with the orange and yellow lights of a town beginning to wake or settle, filtering through the fog to create a soft, hazy backdrop. The bin's rough texture and utilitarian shape are defined only by the faint outline of the city glow against the deep blue twilight. Metal gates reflect the ambient light, while the heavy, cold air of the season hangs visibly in the suspended droplets surrounding the equipment. one drop of condensation rests on the bin's rim.
