Silhouetted Fitting Stool and Loafers on Kelowna Sidewalk
by Debbie Carey
Deep blue twilight washes over a polished city sidewalk in Kelowna, turning a men's fitting stool and a pair of leather loafers into stark black silhouettes. A coiled tape measure rests against the stool leg, its metal teeth catching faint highlights against the dark pavement. Behind the foreground objects, the interior of a shop glows softly, revealing sheer curtains that drape across the glass, a large mirror reflecting the empty room, and the jagged outlines of garment racks filled with hanging clothes. The rain-darkened concrete reflects the blue sky, creating a mirror surface that doubles the shapes of the shoes. The composition balances perfectly centered, with the heavy leather texture of the loafers contrasting the smooth, wet stone. one drop of water rests on the toe of the right shoe, sharp and distinct against the silhouette.
