The metal frame gleams under the harsh artificial glow, its plastic cups holding empty bottles that glisten with fresh condensation. Heavy cardboard boxes stack in neat rows along the walls, their edges sharp against the dim background. Leading lines of the warehouse racking guide toward the deep night beyond the open bay doors. Sweat beads form on the nearby glass partition, blurring the view of the humid midsummer air outside. The rack stands ready, a tool of disciplined throughput in the quiet pressure of the late shift.
