A Shikoku Ken stands in profile beside a weathered beige courtyard wall, its coat displaying a distinct agouti pattern of ticking and brindle stripes. The dog's muzzle is broad and tapering, with a dark nose and alert, triangular ears set high on the head. Soft, diffuse light from a north-facing direction illuminates the texture of the fur without casting harsh shadows. Rain-wet patches of the gray pavement reflect the pale sky, indicating a storm has just passed. The animal is positioned at the very edge of the frame, gazing outward with a steady, dignified expression. Fine droplets rest on the coarse guard hairs along the neck and back. The plain wall behind shows subtle cracks and discoloration from age.
