Under the heavy indigo of a Santa Fe night, the warm amber spill from a ground-floor adobe storefront illuminates a weathered wooden counter outside a local eatery. A tired server leans against the rough stucco wall, her hands resting near a stack of bright, saturated patchwork pillows used as makeshift armrests. Beside her, a metal dish drainer holds a few wet ceramic plates, reflecting the neon sign’s pink glow from across the street.
