Under a flat, overcast sky, a vendor at a Santa Fe roadside stand leans over a scarred wooden table to arrange a stack of bright blue and white porcelain plates. The glaze reflects the diffused light, against the dusty adobe wall behind. A pair of garden shears rests on the table, blades open, next to a thermos that has seen better days. The vendor’s hand, weathered and strong, adjusts the rim of a plate, ensuring it sits perfectly straight.
