Mist rests on the adobe walls of a Santa Fe courtyard, softening the rough, sun-baked texture of the stucco under a pale, diffused dawn light. A local vendor adjusts a heavy, dented tin tiffin carrier on a weathered wooden cart, its surface marked by years of use. Beside it, a few ceramic canisters, painted in traditional Santa Fe terracotta and turquoise, sit open, revealing dried chiles and cornmeal. The vendor’s hands, calloused and quick, move with practiced ease, arranging the containers for the morning rush.
