Scientist Rinsing Ceramic Tubes Near Stream
by Jake Parker
Golden sunlight slants across a narrow stream in Ulsan, illuminating a scientist's hands as they scrub mud from ceramic sample tube lids. The water flows clear over smooth river stones, carrying away brown residue from the cylindrical containers. Late summer air hangs heavy with low clouds, casting soft, elongated shadows across the wet rocks. The ceramic surfaces gleam with a matte finish, contrasting against the rough texture of the surrounding gravel. Water droplets rest on the edges of the tubes, catching the warm light. A gloved hand grips a lid firmly, scrubbing away the earth with precise, repetitive motion. The scene ends with a close-up of the clean, white rim of a tube resting against the dark, wet stone.
