A rusted metal colander hangs from a wooden hook on the exterior wall of a modest Nairobi home, catching the dim, grey light of a rainy dusk. Water droplets rest on the wire mesh, blurring the view of the red clay soil and scattered green weeds in the garden bed below. The background reveals a blurred glimpse of a corrugated iron roof and a distant, rain-streaked window, at the base of the object in its immediate domestic context. One drop of water falls from the lowest rim, creating a faint ripple in a puddle forming on the concrete step beneath.
