Reed House Floating Islands Train Terminal
Soft overcast light fills the vast interior of a restored train terminal in Chișinău, where dramatic clouds are reflected in the high, arched windows. A reed house constructed from bundled dried stalks sits atop a cluster of floating islands made of woven vegetation, positioned centrally in the open hall. The rough, golden-brown texture of the reeds contrasts with the smooth, gray stone floor and the rusted iron tracks running parallel to the structure. Late spring greenery peeks through cracks in the terminal's foundation, adding vibrant splashes of color to the muted industrial tones. Perfect symmetry frames the reed dwelling against the soaring vaulted ceiling, while the untamed energy of the organic materials clashes with the rigid geometry of the station's architecture. at the edge is a single frond of reed catching the diffuse light against the dark iron beam.
