Red Woolen Oven Mitts in New York

A pair of thick, red woolen oven mitts rests on the frost-dusted sill of a ground-floor apartment window in Tribeca. The heavy knit texture of the mitts contrasts sharply with the smooth, cold pane of glass behind them. Outside, the gray winter light reflects off the wet pavement of the narrow street below. One layer of ice crystals rests on the bottom edge of the window frame.
