Red Umbrella in Beijing

A weathered red umbrella leans against the peeling green frame of a traditional courtyard gate, its fabric heavy with the dampness of the misty dawn. Condensation beads along the curved metal ribs of the canopy, reflecting the soft, diffused gray light that falls through the thick morning fog. Rain-streaked paper lanterns hang motionless from the eaves above, their warm glow muted by the dense atmospheric haze surrounding the structure. Water droplets rest on the frayed edges of the umbrella’s silk lining, dripping slowly onto the stone pavement below.
