A red lacquered wooden door handle gleams with moisture against the dark, rain-washed timber of a traditional Hoi An shopfront. First light falls through the overcast sky, reflecting softly off the wet, curved metal surface. Water droplets rest on the intricate carvings, showing the deep, glossy finish of the aged paint. One bead of condensation hangs precariously from the tip of the ornate finial, waiting to fall.
