Rainy Commuters Under Binondo Cafe Awning
by Ada Bernal
Heavy gray clouds press low over the wet pavement outside a corner cafe in Binondo. A dense crowd of commuters huddles beneath the narrow metal awning, their shoulders touching as they wait out the downpour. Sunlight, breaking through the overcast, ricochets off passing buses and glass storefronts across the street, creating sharp, dancing highlights on the slick asphalt. Raindrops sheet off the awning's edge in a continuous curtain, blurring the figures behind the glass. The scene pulses with restless energy as people shift positions, their raincoats glistening with moisture. One puddle near the curb reflects the chaotic motion of passing vehicles and the dull silver of the sky above. The metal railing beside the cafe gleams with fresh water.
