Protest Banner Line Near Bus Shelter Kisumu
by Claudia Le
Soft gray light falls through low-hanging clouds, casting a uniform glow over a row of protest banners staked into wet earth outside a polling station. The banners, printed with bold text, lean slightly against the rhythm of the drizzle, their fabric heavy with moisture. Beside them, a metal bus shelter stands with its glass panels streaked with rain, reflecting the muted sky. The stakes holding the banners are driven deep into the soil, their tops rusted, anchoring the scene with clear institutional gravity. Leading lines of the banner rope guide toward the entrance of the building, where the cool stillness of the pre-dawn hour hangs in the air. The ground is slick, with puddles forming around the base of the stakes, mirroring the overcast sky above.
