A cool early morning light spills across the curved glass facade of the Adelaide Central Market’s modern extension, reflecting the grey sky and the wet pavement below. In the foreground, a vendor’s stainless steel prep table holds a stack of white ceramic plates and a bundle of dish brushes with worn bristles, evidence of the rush to open. The scene is anchored by the market’s distinctive steel trusses overhead, casting long, sharp shadows that stretch toward the entrance. A few pebbles, kicked up from the nearby street, are pressed into a patch of wet mud near the loading dock, adding a gritty texture to the otherwise clean lines of the architecture.
