Soft, diffused light from an overcast late afternoon sky creates a faint, white parhelic circle ring perfectly centered on the winter sun. The view looks down upon a covered bazaar near Oumé, where the wet season has darkened the ground and turned the air heavy with moisture. Wind whips loose fabric and scattered papers across the jewelry counters, blurring the edges of the stalls. The vastness of the sky dominates the frame, against the tight cluster of commerce below. One bead of water rolls down the rim of a brass scale, catching the pale light before falling into the shadowed corner of the counter.
