Pale dawn light slips across the polished stone floor of a prayer hall in Antalya, illuminating a section of ancient mosaic floorwork. The intricate tesserae form peacock figures with fanned tails and twisting vine patterns, rendered in deep blues, earthy browns, and soft golds. The mosaic section sits within a larger narthex space, its geometric borders against the organic curves of the birds. Sunlight from high windows casts long, cool shadows that stretch across the stone, highlighting the texture of the aged glass and stone tiles. The edges of the mosaic appear slightly worn, showing centuries of foot traffic beneath the reverent quiet. A faint reflection of the window frame glides across the smooth surface near the peacock's tail feathers.
