A cramped, steamy kitchen corner in a Neapolitan apartment glows under the harsh, yellow sodium spill from a streetlamp filtering through a small, barred window. On a chipped, white-tiled counter sits a stainless steel sink, its basin filled with soapy water reflecting the distorted grid of the window bars. Beside it, a stack of damp, striped drying towels hangs precariously over the edge, dripping onto a worn linoleum floor. One, faceted glass tumbler catches the ambient light, throwing a sharp, prismatic shard of white across a nearby wall shelf cluttered with ceramic jars and a vintage domino box.
