Bright late morning light floods the narrow, sun-baked alleyway in Plaka, illuminating a chaotic cluster of domestic life spilling from a second-story balcony. A weathered wooden table serves as the stage for a bright blue glass tumbler sweating condensation, sitting beside a tarnished brass candle holder and a single white handkerchief folded neatly nearby. Below, the textured facade of a whitewashed building shows cracks in the plaster, against the smooth ceramic tiles of a neighbor's roof. A small olive tree in a terracotta pot leans precariously over the railing, its leaves trembling in the thermal updraft.
