Runway spill cuts through the deep night inside a Cairo atelier near the 6th of October, illuminating a silk gown hem. Silver pins stand at rigid angles along the curved edge, piercing the delicate gold-threaded fabric. The material ripples into soft valleys that hold the warm backstage glow against the dark surroundings. Heavy velvet drapes hang in the background, absorbing light and leaving the illuminated hem in sharp relief. Shadows pool across the floor, marking the peak autumn stillness. One pin head reflects the overhead bulb like a tiny star against the dark silk.
