Autumn Tailoring Night with Candlelight and Shears

Pale cream fabric drapes over a wooden tailoring table, its surface scattered with white chalk marks and a pair of steel shears. Warm candlelight flickers from an unseen source, casting deep, soft shadows along the rough plaster walls of the Milanese room. The autumn air is suggested by the heavy weight of the wool resting on the table. Tiny bits of chalk dust rest on the fabric folds. The steel of the shears reflects the orange glow of the flame, while the pale cloth absorbs the light. One shadow from a chalk stick stretches long and dark across the wood grain.
