Neon Reflections on Train Terminal Floors

Deep shadows fill the vast interior of a restored train terminal near Tijuana, interrupted only by the sharp, colored glow of overhead projectors. From a direct overhead perspective, polished concrete and tile surfaces act as mirrors for beams of cyan, magenta, and amber light. The early autumn air leaves no visible dust, allowing the light to cut cleanly across the dark, expansive floor. Small, intense highlights scatter where the projector beams strike the glossy textures, creating a graphic pattern of geometric shapes against the deep blackness. The rigid lines of the architecture frame these floating colors, showing the tension between the heavy, static structure and the fluid, artificial illumination. A jagged edge of blue light rests against the shadow of a rusted support beam.
