Neon Reflections on Surreal Sand Pavement
Wet asphalt mirrors the jagged glow of a fluorescent convenience store sign in Gualeguaychú as city lights ignite in late spring. Heat shimmer distorts the reflection, making the neon tubes appear to melt into the dark street. Suddenly, the solid pavement dissolves into pale, undulating sand dunes that rise directly from the wet ground, creating a seamless transition between the urban street and a desert interior. The storefront stands silhouetted against the glowing sky, its neon tubes casting long, impossible shadows that stretch across the rippling sand grains. One puddle near the dune edge reflects the store's blue and red signage, while the sand itself remains dry and textured under the artificial light. The boundary where the wet street meets the dunes blurs into a soft, hazy line, defying the physics of the city.
