Neon Ferris Wheel Reflections on Water Floor
by Luis Carter
Glowing neon arcs of a Ferris wheel float above a floor that has transformed into still, mirror-still open water. The restored train terminal in Malanje stands as a concrete shell with high arched windows framing the pre-dawn darkness. String lights hang in thin lines across the vaulted ceiling, their warm points reflecting clearly in the dark liquid surface below. Quiet shadows stretch along the stone walls where rain has not yet touched the interior. The neon trails form perfect concentric circles that double as ripples on the water, merging the structure with its reflection. Every architectural detail of the terminal sits suspended in this liquid state, creating a seamless loop of light and stone. The edge of a metal support beam cuts through the water reflection, breaking the symmetry with a sharp, solid line.
