Muralist Resting on Bench in Ilorin Courtyard
by Alana Walsh
Harsh noon light floods a paved courtyard in Ilorin, reflecting off wet stones where a storm recently cleared. At the frame's edge, a muralist leans forward from a wooden bench, their silhouette sharp against the bright glare. Paint cans and brushes lie scattered on the damp ground nearby, their surfaces glistening with residual moisture. The light remains unfiltered, casting short, defined shadows beneath the bench legs. Green vines climb a weathered brick wall in the background, showing the turn of seasons with patches of yellowing leaves. A splash of dried paint marks the muralist's sleeve. The wet pavement mirrors the pale sky, creating a shallow pool of silver light that catches the edge of a discarded rag.
