A narrow service alley in Sham Shui Po glows under the harsh, mixed illumination of a flickering sodium streetlamp and the cool blue spill from a nearby electronics shop. The wet asphalt reflects these colors in distorted streaks, creating a slick, neon-drenched surface. In the mid-ground, a local vendor’s makeshift cart sits idle, its metal frame dented and scratched. One, chipped ceramic mug rests precariously on the edge of a stacked plastic crate, catching the sodium light in a warm, isolated pool. Behind it, a faded red sign with Chinese characters hangs askew, its paint peeling to reveal rusted iron beneath.
