Under the flat, diffuse light of an overcast midday in Liverpool, a narrow brick alleyway slopes downward toward a puddle reflecting the grey sky. A damp, faded towel hangs from a rusted metal railing, its heavy fabric drooping with moisture, while a chipped ceramic mug with a matte glaze sits precariously on a low concrete ledge nearby. In the background, the curved silhouette of a traditional Victorian terraced roofline breaks the horizon, at the base of the scene in local architecture. The wet pavement mirrors the dull light, creating a textured contrast between the rough brickwork and the slick, rippling water surface that catches the ambient brightness without harsh shadows.
