Flat noon light floods the narrow alleyway behind a Georgian terrace in Liverpool, illuminating a chaotic cluster of domestic life against red brick. A white plastic drying rack leans precariously against the wall, its metal arms holding damp towels and a single yellow rubber glove that catches the diffuse light. Beside it, a woven basket tray sits on the damp concrete, filled with discarded shopping bags and a rusted skillet used as a makeshift plant pot for a struggling fern. Ivy vines creep up the mortar between the bricks, their green leaves stark against the weathered stone. A worn doormat lies scuffed near the threshold, partially covered in flour dust that drifts from an open kitchen window above.
