Mudroom Bench with Wet Rain Jackets Noon Light
Flat noon light floods the north-facing wall of a domestic mudroom, illuminating rough-hewn timber hooks mounted above a low, wide bench. Three heavy rain jackets hang damp, their synthetic fabrics glistening where water beads and runs down the seams. The jackets are dark green and charcoal, against the pale, weathered wood of the bench seat. Soft lamplight begins to pool in the upper corners where the ceiling meets the walls, casting warm pools against the cool daylight. A woven mat lies on the floor, absorbing scattered droplets. The scene settles into quiet stillness, with the wet fabric pressing against the hooks and the grain of the wood catching the edge of the shadow.
