Moonrise Over Frost Hay Bales Wales

Pale blue moonlight lingers above a horizon where the first orange rays of sunrise begin to touch the tops of bare poplar trees. Below, terraced rice paddies in Wales hold shallow pools of water reflecting the cool sky, their edges lined with frost. Several large, rectangular hay bales sit wrapped in white plastic, their surfaces dusted with a fine layer of white ice crystals. The ground between the bales is covered in dormant, yellow-brown grass. The light strikes the frost on the bales, creating sharp highlights against the deep shadows of the early morning. One ray of sunlight catches the edge of a plastic wrap on the nearest bale, marking the transition from night to day.
