Moonlit Alpine Lake Stars Blue Hour Guapulo in from a frost-hushed ridgeline near Guapulo, Quito

Moonlit Alpine Lake Stars Blue Hour Guapulo

by Debbie Morrison

Frost coats the ridgeline grass near Guapulo, Quito, where the sky holds a deep blue hue after sunset. Dark clouds drift across the zenith, heavy and textured against the starfield. Below, the alpine lake lies glassy and still, mirroring the celestial canopy with perfect symmetry. The water surface reflects the cold, distant glow of the moon and scattered stars, creating a seamless bridge between the frozen ground and the vast sky. Shadows from the ridgeline fall sharply across the foreground, defining the steep drop toward the water. A thin layer of ice forms along the shoreline, catching the faint starlight in sharp, crystalline edges.
