Full Moon Over Quito Cliff Path Night in from a frost-hushed ridgeline near Guapulo, Quito

Full Moon Over Quito Cliff Path Night

by Nina Barton

Pale moonlight spills across a narrow stone path winding along a frost-dusted ridgeline near Guapulo. The ground holds a thin layer of white crystalline frost, against the dark volcanic rock beneath. Cold air hangs heavy and still, visible as a dry haze in the beam of the full moon. To the side, a small cluster of fire embers glows with orange warmth, casting short, sharp shadows against the rough stone wall. The path curves gently into the deep black void below, where distant city lights of Quito twinkle faintly in the valley. One ember flickers on the edge of the stone, illuminating the texture of the frozen grass nearby.
