Deep night shadows wrap a kitchen near Tirana under heavy overcast skies, yet stark fluorescent light cuts through the gloom to illuminate a grandmother in a woolen sweater. Her hands move rhythmically inside a tarnished copper pot, the metal reflecting the harsh overhead glow. The entire room, the autumn leaves visible through the window, and the grandmother's face are rendered in shades of gray and silver. The only burst of color is the vibrant, saturated crimson jam swirling within the pot, defying the monochrome world. one drop of red jam rests on the copper rim, catching the fluorescent glare.
