Blue Hour Trifle with Reverse Shadows

Warm yellow light from an interior lamp mixes with the cool blue glow of a rainy window in a Nanning kitchen. A glass bowl holds layers of sponge cake, red fruit compote, and thick custard. Condensation beads along the rim of a nearby drinking glass. Sharp, dark shadows from the fruit and bowl edge stretch backward toward the light sources, defying the direction of illumination. The wet worktop reflects the dim interior lamps against the gray rain outside. Shallow depth of field blurs the background tiles into soft gray and white shapes. The impossible darkness pools around the dessert base while the custard surface remains bright.
