Midsummer Mist Over Lhasa Mountain Ridge Dawn in near Lhasa

Midsummer Mist Over Lhasa Mountain Ridge Dawn

by Betty Colon

Cold silver dawn light spills across a thick mist clinging to a jagged mountain ridge near Lhasa. The midsummer air holds the moisture in a soft, white haze that obscures the valley floor while revealing the sharp, wind-carved contours of the peaks above. Dark rock faces emerge from the fog, their surfaces rough and textured against the pale sky. Tiny points of light, resembling distant stars, appear faintly in the upper atmosphere where the dawn is just beginning to fade. The scene stretches wide, showing the vast solitude of the high plateau. One streak of pale blue light cuts through the grey mist along the ridge's highest edge.
