Midnight Bridge Reflection Magenta Sky Norway
by Ricky Warren
Silvery winter light illuminates a concrete bridge spanning a dark canal in Norway during the polar night. Low-hanging clouds press against the horizon, yet the sky above shifts into an impossible, deep magenta hue. The water surface distorts the bridge into a rippling, liquid mirror that fractures the structure into jagged shards of grey and white. A bold, striking contrast exists between the cool, metallic tones of the architecture and the saturated, alien color of the atmosphere. The composition tilts sharply to the right, creating a disorienting Dutch angle that emphasizes the instability of the reflection. Dark, heavy shadows rest on the canal banks while the magenta glow reflects violently off the moving ripples. One, sharp edge of the bridge railing cuts across the upper right corner, at the base of the impossible sky in tangible steel.
